Safflower Seeds for Birds

Safflower is high in protein, fat and fiber. Many squirrels will avoid safflower seed and will not disturb feeders where safflower is offered. It has a bitter flavor and a different shape than other types of birdseed so typically “bully” birds (grackles, blackbirds) will avoid feeders with this seed.
