The best way to gauge the time to harvest is when the skin of the fruit is shiny, unwrinkled, and a uniform colour. As soon as the skin does not rebound to gentle pressure from your finger, it’s ripe.

The 'Manitoba' Tomato is a very dependable and early tomato variety that is excellent for the Prairies. Enjoy the bright red, juicy fruit earlier in the season than other varieties.

Beefsteak Tomatoes produce large, meaty, solid fruit that is slightly flattened and globe-shaped. With a mild and flavourful taste, it is good for salads and table use.

This classic tomato is best known of its uses in making tomato pastes. Features few seeds and a rich, meaty interior. This variety is also commonly used for making sauces and ketchup. This productive plants bear 85 g pear-shaped fruit and boast disease resistance. Used for canning, fresh eating and cooking

The Early Girl Tomato produces early fruits that are bright red, very firm, and can be up to 7 – 9 oz in size. This tomato shows good tolerance to cracking and provide great taste and performance in the garden. Loads of slicer tomatoes are delicious on sandwiches or in salads.

Flavour is a balance of acid/sweetness.

This yellow fruit pepper is a long time favourite across Manitoba. A medium variety of Capsicum Annuum with a wide range on the Scoville Scale (heat indicator scale), meaning the pepper can vary in heat, but is comparable to a jalapeño.
