Alocasia cannot handle prolonged, direct, midday sunlight. Important to grow in dappled indirect light. East or North window is best.
Avoid letting your plant go from extremely dry to extremely soaked which can stress a plant out. Although they will tolerate slightly drier soil, you never want to let it go too far. Keep the soil of your plant evenly moist, not soggy.

Iceberg Alley®, a native plant discovered in Canada, is a cold hardy shrub that makes a great addition to any cold climate landscape. This shrub’s powdery, silver foliage adds unique texture and contrast, especially when combined with other plants. Iceberg Alley® reaches a height and spread of about 5’ (a bit shorter in very cold areas and a bit taller in warmer zones) forming an attractive upright and rounded shape that fits beautifully into the landscape. It blooms in spring with silver catkins with red stamens, providing nectar for pollinators. Iceberg Alley® is tolerant of moist soils and a great choice for rain gardens. It grows best in full sun and tolerates pruning beautifully, so you can feature stems in cut flower arrangements throughout the seasons.

Contrary to what its name implies, Micro Clover is not simply a tiny version of standard clover. When Micro Clover is mowed, its leaves grow smaller and more numerous, with fewer flowers than conventional clovers. It becomes established more quickly and can be mowed shorter than typical lawn grasses. It will also stand up to foot (and pet) traffic. Once established, Micro Clover is more drought tolerant than grasses and require less frequent watering.
If starting a lawn from scratch, use 5% Micro Clover of the total weight of the grass seed being sown.
NOTE: Over-seeding existing lawn may not work, as the seeds need to be in contact with moist soil in order to germinate.

C. maxima. Uchiki Red Kuri Organic squash seeds are CERTIFIED ORGANIC. This is a Japanese type Hubbard (red kuri), with dark, red/orange skin over tasty, cream coloured flesh. Popular in Japanese and Thai dishes, the flesh is flavourful and firm, and never stringy. Uchiki kuri squash plants are productive and robust in this climate. Sometimes known as "onion squash," the fruits average 1.5kg (just over 3 lbs) each. This is a very early maturing squash. In our trials, May sown plants are finished by September 1st, with three or more fruits per plant.

This is a variety of very different character from the general run of English Roses, being rather closer to the Species Roses than to the Old Roses and more natural and shrubby in growth. A striking crimson-red; the individual flowers can best be described as shallowly cupped, opening as informal rosettes; the petals quickly reflexing as the flowers age. They are held in medium-sized heads; the individual blooms nodding attractively on the stem. They have an Old Rose fragrance with a strong lemon zest character. It forms a strong, rather informal shrub. Named for Canterbury Cathedral.
David Austin Roses were not developed for Zone 3. BUT it is possible to have success here in Manitoba by following a few key tips.
Choose a location that is not in line with strong north winds
Plant the crown (this is where the roots end and the woody shrub begins) of your rose 6”-12” below the surface of the soil. As your shrub will be in full leaf at time of purchase you can clean off leaves that will get buried if you like.
In the fall you will need to cover with a deep layer of mulch. Wood mulch, straw, leaves or a combination of all. Use a burlap tarp (Not Plastic) to cover and hold down with rocks or stakes. This will ensure the mulch is not blown away. A full wheelbarrow or more per rose is not out of the question. Throughout the winter direct your snow clearing efforts to cover your roses as well. The more insulation the better.
Don’t remove the tarp and mulch until night temperatures are consistently hovering about zero to +3 with no threat of deep freeze, as we sometimes see in April.

A dense, upright mounded shrub with attractive bronze-tinged new growth in spring, that matures to a soft yellow-green and develops into a brilliant coppery orange in the fall. Panicles of rosy red flowers rise above the foliage in summer, creating a dynamic contrast. Excellent for brightening shrub borders. Good heat tolerance. Deciduous.

A large evergreen tree with dense, ascending, lateral branches from the ground up that form a broad pyramidal to conical crown. It varies from the typical white spruce in its denser, more compact habit and slower growth rate. It has a shallow, fiberous, wide spreading root system. The thin bark is ashy gray / brown.
Brown cylindrical cones appear in late July and may persist on the tree into January. It is better adapted than the white spruce.
Grows best in acidic, moist loams with full sun, but adapts to a variety of conditions including shade, drought, hot and cold. It is flood intolerant and sensitive to soil compaction.
This tree has a slow growth rate at less than 12" per year.

Ruby Slippers Amur Maple is primarily grown for its highly ornamental fruit. It features abundant showy scarlet samaras in early summer. It has dark green deciduous foliage. The lobed leaves turn outstanding shades of orange and red in the fall.

CERTIFIED ORGANIC. Glacier Organic are among the earliest maturing of early season tomatoes. The productive little plants are compact and well suited to containers and balcony growing. Glacier's 'saladette' fruits are small at just 5cm (2") in diameter, but they are very sweet, with a superior flavour to some other early maturing varieties. The stout plants grow to only 60-75cm (24-30") tall, and bear most of their fruit in a concentrated set. The plants are relatively cold tolerant and perform well in short season northern gardens.
Determinate (bush) Matures in 55 days. (Open-pollinated seeds)
The hardiest weeping willow for the prairies. Glossy, dark green leaves in summer and golden stem colour in the winter. Prefer moist soils.

The obedient plant can be an aggressive spreader so allow for this. One of the best features of this plant is its long bloom time, about a full month from late summer into fall. The blossoms are light shades of pink and white, a rarity among the hot, bold colours of fall. The flowers look good in a garden setting and also make good cut flowers.
