 A first-class foliage plant for using towards the front of the border, where its deep green  leaves look for all the world like some exotic fern. Dark green foliage is typical of jacobs ladder with, heads of white flowers rise above on short stems in early summer. This seems to prefer a partly shaded situation with protection from hot afternoon sun, particularly where summers are warm and humid. Also excellent in mixed containers.

McKana's Giant aquilegia is particularly good for cut flowers as it features a fully double, upward-facing bloom, rising above a ferny foliage of gray-green divided leaves. Plants typically produce 3-5 stems in the first year and 5-10 stems in the second and following years.

Remove faded flowering stems to promote additional blooming.

Also known as Blue Cornflower, or Mountain Bluet.

This species of Bachelor Button is low to medium in height and well suited to growing in the sunny border. Plants form a bushy clump of grey-green leaves, setting off a display of clear-blue shaggy flowers in early summer.

Removing faded flower heads will encourage repeat blooming. Ruggedly hardy, this plant will grow in most types of soils and climate regions. Plants may be pruned back  in mid-summer to maintain a compact habit.

Makes for beautiful cut flower.

Achillea Yarrow blooms for weeks starting from early to late summer and is known for attracting butterflies.  It's a deer, drought and rabbit resistant perennial that features clusters of petite flowers with a long stem. 

deadheading will encourage new blooms and will prevent from spreading it's seeds, yarrow seeds can fall from previous blooms and will spread if not monitored.

Garden Astilbe are a popular choice for shady gardens, where they perform well if given a rich, moist soil and regular watering. Fertilize in April and June.  Seed heads may be removed, or left on the plant for winter interest.

Intend to plant and reap a harvest in 3 years. Asparagus need well-drained nutrient rich soil. Plant in full sun and mark its planting location as it will die back and can be visually lost in the garden by late summer.

Purple Passion is known for being 20% sweeter than regular asparagus and the colour will fade when cooked. Flavour is known to be mildly nutty.

 Elegant lacy leaves form a very dense and bushy clump. This dwarf plant does not demand the same space as the standard Goats beard, and is somewhat inclined to sulk in hot summer areas, so plant in a moist, peaty soil, or even at the waterside. Cut plants back in summer if they look untidy.

An excellent companion to summer-blooming shrub roses. Good for cutting, the flowers may also be dried by hanging upside down in a warm, dark room.

Sweet Kate Tradescantia is a low maintenance perennial ideal for medium borders.

Blue Gold has lime green/gold foliage and deep blue blooms.

Sorrel is a leafy green vegetable grown for its pleasantly tart, lemony flavor. The plants have smooth to crinkled, arrow-shaped leaves that grow from a center. The plant will send up a tall flower stalk as the temperature warms, but it's best to remove this to promote leaf growth for a better harvest. Sorrel has multiple uses in the kitchen  from soups to stews.

Golden Globe Cedar is known for its vibrant colour and manageable growth. It is notable for its dense, golden-yellow foliage that adds a burst of colour to any garden.
