Recent conventional corn breeding has produced this outstanding triplesweet with two types of kernels on each cob: 75% sugary enhanced (SE), and 25% super sweet (sh2). A winner of the All-America Selections award, Honey Select corn seeds were bred for the home gardener, and the plants do not require isolation from other varieties to produce their fantastic flavour. This is the sweetest variety for the home grower. The combination of hybrid kernels means excellent flavour is matched by a long harvest window and good keeping after harvest. The tender, sweet ears average 20-23cm (8-9") long.

The prettiest potentilla!
Most people plant potentilla because they just need something tough. And Happy Face Hearts potentilla is that - but it's also pretty enough to feature in your landscape. It's covered in flowers from spring until frost. Each bloom starts out with a cheery yellow center which then feathers into white for an apple blossom-like effect. Bright green foliage is lightly furry, which deters deer and rabbits.

CERTIFIED ORGANIC! Green Zebra Organic tomato seeds yield wildly popular, beautiful fruit that are chartreuse in colour with deep lime green stripes. Green Zebra is an easy to grow mid-season tomato. Plants mature late with prolific yields of tasty fruit 4-6 cm (1.5-2") round. Skin is smooth, interior texture is firm and pulpy. Green Zebra organic tomatoes have an amazing, unique rich taste commonly described as sweet with a complex zing. A favourite of gourmet chefs, use Green Zebra to enhance the flavour of salsas, salads, soups and entrees. Also enjoy fresh from the garden for a zesty snack!
Green Zebra organic tomatoes were developed by heirloom breeder Thomas Wagner in the mid 1980's from 4 varieties of heirloom tomatoes. Vines show some resistance to Septoria Leaf Spot. For best flavour allow Green Zebra organic tomatoes to fully ripen on the vine. A slight yellowish blush in colour and a firm feel with a bit of "give" are signs the fruit is ripe for picking. Fruit will taste bitter if picked too early, and if left too late may become mealy.

David Austin Roses were not developed for Zone 3. BUT ,it is possible to have success here in Manitoba by following a few key tips.
Choose a location that is not in line with strong north winds
Plant the crown (this is where the roots end and the woody shrub begins) of your rose 6”-12” below the surface of the soil. As your shrub will be in full leaf at time of purchase you can clean off leaves that will get buried if you like.
In the fall you will need to cover with a deep layer of mulch. Wood mulch, straw, leaves or a combination of all. Use a burlap tarp (Not Plastic) to cover and hold down with rocks or stakes. This will ensure the mulch is not blown away. A full wheelbarrow or more per rose is not out of the question. Throughout the winter direct your snow clearing efforts to cover your roses as well. The more insulation the better.
Don’t remove the tarp and mulch until night temperatures are consistently hovering about zero to +3 with no threat of deep freeze, as we sometimes see in April.
We hope you enjoy growing your
David Austin Rose.
Picea pungens ‘Globosa’ is a very well-known dwarf Colorado Blue Spruce, it has an upright, broad form and silvery blue needles that make it virtually indistinguishable from P.p. ‘Montgomery’. The slow-growing, dwarf plant is globe-shaped when young, but will eventually form a leader as it matures and develop an upright, broad shape that is wider than tall. To maintain a globosa or spreading habit, prune out upright or vigorous shoots.

The compact, bushy Ginkgo biloba ‘Mariken’ was discovered in 1995 as a witch’s broom growing in a Ginkgo tree in the Netherlands. It has proven an excellent find, descended with the unique history of the species, with the same fan-shaped green leaves that turn bright yellow in fall. But ‘Mariken’ stays very small, its thick, spreading branches loaded with a dense arrangement of foliage. The slow-growing, deciduous conifer makes a high-interest architectural feature, a flat, rounded, form, for either small garden or container.

This red-spotted, open romaine lettuce is sure to turn some heads. The mid-sized plant is open with glossy, green leaves flecked with maroon; making it a delightful and colourful addition to salad mixes. As the leaves get larger, the markings become even more prominent. The leaves of Freckles lettuce are speckled, not blotchy, so they have quite an elegant look. And the flavour is excellent. Freckles lettuce seeds, also known as Forellenschluss are an heirloom variety of Austrian lineage. Be sure to plant some Freckles lettuce seeds in your organic vegetable garden this spring.

Direct sow or start indoors and transplant. Sow seeds 5mm (¼”) deep, or on the surface of the soil where the soil can be kept evenly moist.. Space or thin heading lettuce to 30cm (12″) apart. Space or thin looseleaf varieties to 20-25cm (8-10″) apart. Space rows for all types 45-90cm (18-36″) apart. Babyleaf lettuce can be planted quite densely, as it is harvested at an immature size. Sowing babyleaf lettuce seeds closely together in narrow rows makes harvesting simpler.
