A Proven Winner Rose Mallow, Berry Awesome is a very robust perennial that fills a lot of space in the garden. Find a place in your landscape where it will not be crowded by other plants, because it will quickly out compete your other perennials for space within a year or two. 

Do not prune it to keep it smaller, as this will remove the flower buds. Tender Zone 4 perennial so it will need heavy mulch before frost!

This anemone grows 24 to 32 inches tall with single, light violet-pink flowers. It’s an extremely robust and vigorous plant that is best suited to naturalizing. This is a Creeping, Mounded, Thicket-forming perennial, meaning it can overwhelm other plants and may become a nuisance in a bed.

Among the most popular and easy to grow flowering vines, clematis are lovely deciduous vines which get covered with large single flowers. They grow best on a west facing wall, fence or arbour. Cover soil with mulch to keep the roots cool in the heat of the summer.

Delphiniums are the stars of the early summer border. Plants form a low mound of deeply-cut green leaves, bearing tall spikes of satiny flowers. Removing faded spikes at the base will encourage repeat blooming in fall. 

Cut back hard to encourage fresh foliage. Use a high phosphorous fertilizer each year, in early spring. 

Hot, humid summers can bring on potential mildew.

Bee balm is a classic American native and cottage garden favorite, it's beloved by gardeners. Grand Parade  blooms in pink with a fragrance given off by foliage warmed by the sun or touched by the gardener.

 A first-class foliage plant for using towards the front of the border, where its deep green  leaves look for all the world like some exotic fern. Dark green foliage is typical of jacobs ladder with, heads of white flowers rise above on short stems in early summer. This seems to prefer a partly shaded situation with protection from hot afternoon sun, particularly where summers are warm and humid. Also excellent in mixed containers.

Achillea Yarrow blooms for weeks starting from early to late summer and is known for attracting butterflies.  It's a deer, drought and rabbit resistant perennial that features clusters of petite flowers with a long stem.

Empress Wu features huge dark green leaves with deep veins, measuring over 1½' wide and long. It forms a tall and wide clump with a strongly upright habit. This species of Bachelor Button is low to medium in height and well suited to growing in the sunny border. Plants form a bushy clump of grey-green leaves, setting off a display of clear-blue shaggy flowers in early summer.

Removing faded flower heads will encourage repeat blooming. Ruggedly hardy, this plant will grow in most types of soils and climate regions. Plants may be pruned back  in mid-summer to maintain a compact habit.

Makes for beautiful cut flower.

McKana's Giant aquilegia is particularly good for cut flowers as it features a fully double, upward-facing bloom, rising above a ferny foliage of gray-green divided leaves. Plants typically produce 3-5 stems in the first year and 5-10 stems in the second and following years.

Remove faded flowering stems to promote additional blooming.
