The Alpine Currant grows at a medium rate and, under ideal conditions, can be expected to live for approximately 30 years.
This shrub performs well in both full sun and full shade, and is very adaptable to both dry and moist locations. Hardy and drought tolerant, it makes an ideal choice for a moisture-conserving landscape and is highly resistant of urban pollution.

Pinus mugo ‘Mops’ is an excellent dwarf selection that grows into a low, dense dome remaining compact without shearing. The mounding plant has a smooth appearance that comes from many evenly spaced needles growing at a uniform rate on abundant branchlets. During most of the year, ‘Mops’ displays a hint of gray/blue in its green, but during the crisp, cold months of winter, needles take on a warm, golden hue. It’s no wonder this choice is one of our most popular for confined spaces.

Mockorange is a delightfully old-fashioned plant that has unfortunately fallen out of favor, mostly due to its enormous size. Illuminati Tower® mockorange stands to breathe new life into this classic favorite, though, combining a landscape-friendly size with a totally unique space-saving habit. It naturally grows in a very narrow, upright way, each sturdy stem a stack of rugged, deep green leaves that looks like a four-sided tower. In late spring/early summer, hundreds of fragrant white flowers emerge from between the leaves for striking show that truly celebrates the season.

David Austin Roses were not developed for Zone 3. BUT it is possible to have success here in Manitoba by following a few key tips.
Choose a location that is not in line with strong north winds
Plant the crown (this is where the roots end and the woody shrub begins) of your rose 6”-12” below the surface of the soil. As your shrub will be in full leaf at time of purchase you can clean off leaves that will get buried if you like.
In the fall you will need to cover with a deep layer of mulch. Wood mulch, straw, leaves or a combination of all. Use a burlap tarp (Not Plastic) to cover and hold down with rocks or stakes. This will ensure the mulch is not blown away. A full wheelbarrow or more per rose is not out of the question. Throughout the winter direct your snow clearing efforts to cover your roses as well. The more insulation the better.
Don’t remove the tarp and mulch until night temperatures are consistently hovering about zero to +3 with no threat of deep freeze, as we sometimes see in April.
We hope you enjoy growing your David Austin Rose.

Bloomerang Ballet lilac is a reblooming lilac. It blooms in spring along with other lilacs, takes a brief rest to put on new growth, then blooms again from mid-summer through fall. A bit smaller than other lilacs, Bloomerang also has a nice, rounded shape that looks great anywhere you plant it in the landscape. Star-like flowers are a beautiful shade of classic lilac purple and are sweetly scented.

Little Spark® is a compact spirea with orange new growth that holds its yellow leaf color throughout the summer, even when planted in full sun. A summer bloomer, the pink flowers arise just above the foliage, and if you give them a quick shear when they are done, it will rebloom in late summer. Fall color includes shades of pink, creating a multi-toned effect. Little Spark® is fantastic when planted along a garden border.

Lanham’s Beehive Spruce
The late Gary Lanham found this unusual, boldly textured, compact Norway Spruce in 1994 in Kentucky, a witch’s broom nearly 10′ up in a mature Picea abies. Intrigued by the interesting beehive form, Gary took it to Klein’s Nursery in Louisville, and from there, it made its way to Iseli Nursery. The needles of Picea abies ‘Lanham’s Beehive’ are longer and thicker than other dwarf cultivars and they have a slight glaucous tint. These features, combined with prominent, cinnamon colored stems and buds, create a dramatic effect.

An exceptionally beautiful rose with distinctive neat, flat blooms. Each bloom is a lovely soft pink, the smaller central petals deepening to rich apricot and surrounding deep-set stamens. The strong Tea scent becomes more Old Rose, with delicious hints of lemon and grapefruit. It forms a bushy shrub with strong, healthy, upright growth. Named for the Brontë Society to celebrate the bicentenary of the novelist’s birth.

Beautifully rounded flowers, with neatly placed petals making up perfect rosettes. The buds are lightly tinged with yellow but as the flowers open they become pure white. A vigorous shrub; its growth is bushy and upright, clothed in light green foliage, curving outwards in a most attractive manner. With its pure white flowers, this rose lives up to its name.
Acer x pseudosieboldianum Arctic Jade® is a member of our Jack Frost® collection of hybrid maples and is an excellent substitute for less hardy Japanese maples in harsh climate conditions. It has large green, deeply cut leaves reminiscent of A. japonicum ‘Aconitifolium’ with an excellent branching habit. In autumn, the foliage is an impressive canvas for the dazzling fusion of orange and red tones.

Ninebark, that is - because Summer Wine® Black has the darkest, most dramatic foliage yet. With its rich, saturated color and versatile habit, it's the ideal choice for accentuating your home's exterior. Spring brings white flower clusters to contrast with the nearly-black foliage. Upright stems and small foliage gives a fine textural effect.
Honeycomb® Ninebark makes a statement with large, vibrant, chartreuse leaves that hold their color all season long, even in full sun. In the spring, white flowers provide lovely contrast to the leaves, and in the fall, gold leaves provide stunning fall interest. Maturing at 4-6 feet tall and 5-7 feet wide, Honeycomb® makes for a beautiful hedge or color block along a fence line.
