Thuja occidentalis Primo®(‘IslPrim’)

The hardy Threadleaf Arborvitae grows slowly with long, thick, bright green to yellow thread-like foliage, filling out its narrow silhouette with tons of interest. Plant several in a row to create a wispy wall or feature ‘Filiformis’ as a single specimen, it will add unique texture and whimsy wherever it is placed.

Exquisite, cinnamon red, peeling bark is shown off to good effect on this new, large cultivar from the Trompenburg Arboretum, Rotterdam, Netherlands. Pinus sylvestris ‘Bonna’

Boldly textured, medium length needles make the sturdy, upright, multi-stemmed Pinus mugo
‘Big Tuna’ a favorite for areas in the landscape with a little more room. The slow-growing trees become taller than wide and quite bushy. Very hardy with a unique, dense habit, this evergreen shrub’s resinous buds turn showy during cold winter months and stand out distinctly against dark green foliage.

Pinus mugo Iseli® ‘Big Tuna’

Pinus koraiensis ‘Blue Ball’ is a dwarf selection of Korean Pine with blue green needles that emphasize the blue. Short stiff branches and long needles form a globe shaped plant that has a bit of irregularity to it. Hardy and adaptable, with minimal disease or insect problems, ‘Blue Ball’ has great potential for a variety of settings.

Named for an ancient German city in a nursery region similar to Oregon’s Willamette Valley, the beautiful Pinus cembra ‘Westerstede’ represents the finest in hardy garden conifers. ‘Roundabout’ is a compact, green garden orb. Perhaps its color is better described as viridian, a sort of bluish green. Whatever color you perceive, it is a super hardy, symmetrical addition to the garden, like a spherical topiary that never needs shearing. Slow growing with needles in perfect scale to its small size, ‘Roundabout’ is a winner for today’s smaller landscapes. Loves full sun and well drained soil. ‘Roundabout’ was discovered at Iseli Nursery as a witch’s broom growing on Picea pungens ‘Green Spire’.

Larix gmelinii ‘Romberg Park’ is a superb dwarf, deciduous conifer that will develop tufts of short branches giving it appeal in all seasons. In early spring, it is one of the first to push growth, programmed from its cold native habitat and short growing season to take full advantage of warming temperatures. The softly textured, light green needles change to yellow in fall, and then drop to reveal the plant’s many short stems for winter interest. Plant in light, well-drained soil in a sunny garden.

Not your typical juniper!  Limeglow™ displays feathery foliage in electric chartreuse, a color that makes a striking contrast to other greens in the garden. Its spreading, vase form and juvenile foliage lend a cheery presence in almost any garden, including one with hot, dry conditions. This majestic larger fern has long, arching fronds. The crested and forked tips of each zesty green leaflet create a unique ruffled texture. Tolerant of some sun and drought once established, this energetic fern has the potential to liven up more challenging areas in the garden.

Dryopteris affinis ‘Cristata-The King’

This mid-size, green shrub is quite inconspicuous in summer, when it provides a delicate, green backdrop for showy, summer flowers. But when fall arrives, leaving summer behind, a profusion of extraordinary, bright violet berries decorate the vase-like, leafless branches and provide a dramatic color accent against a dusting of snow. A spring pruning is appropriate as flowers and berries form on new wood.

Callicarpa bodinieri ‘Profusion’

The outrageously large flower clusters on this profuse bloomer have individual florets with recurved petals that resemble hyacinth flowers. Long-lasting flowers held aloft on sturdy stems open white in summer and age to pale pink in fall. Easygoing and adaptable, Skyfall will be happy in sun or part shade and isn’t picky about soil type. Prune in late winter to shape.

Hydrangea paniculata Mojito®(‘GRHP10’ PPAF)

Acer x pseudosieboldianum Arctic Jade^® is a member of our Jack Frost^® collection of hybrid maples and is an excellent substitute for less hardy Japanese maples in harsh climate conditions. It has large green, deeply cut leaves reminiscent of A. japonicum ‘Aconitifolium’ with an excellent branching habit. In autumn, the foliage is an impressive canvas for the dazzling fusion of orange and red tones.

Alpenglow® is a red-leafed, upright hybrid maple that is hardy down to –30F. In spring, merlot leaves dance on arching branches; translucent veins help them catch the light and glow. The deep red mellows to a burnished bronze in summer and finally turns to blazing orange and red in fall. A refined oval habit and sturdy branching make Alpenglow® a majestic centerpiece that you can rely on for a colorful show year after year.
