Purple Beauty pepper seeds produce compact, bushy plants with thick protective foliage. The fruits begin to form mid-summer, starting as big, blocky, 3-4 lobed green bell peppers, before maturing to an astonishing bright purple colour. Purple Beauty was grown out from the original hybrid Purple Belle and now produces open pollinated seeds for seed saving and home seed production. The flavour of these remarkable fruits is mild, sweet, and succulent, with a fine, crispy texture. The cut fruits look absolutely spectacular mixed with yellow or orange peppers, so they belong in every foodie's garden. Peppers will turn green when cooked.

David Austin Roses were not developed for Zone 3. BUT it is possible to have success here in Manitoba by following a few key tips.
Choose a location that is not in line with strong north winds
Plant the crown (this is where the roots end and the woody shrub begins) of your rose 6”-12” below the surface of the soil. As your shrub will be in full leaf at time of purchase clean off leaves that will get buried.
In the fall you will need to cover with a deep layer of mulch. Wood mulch, straw, leaves or a combination of all. Use a burlap tarp (Not Plastic) to cover and hold down with rocks or stakes. This will ensure the mulch is not blown away. A full wheelbarrow or more per rose is not out of the question. Throughout the winter direct your snow clearing efforts to cover your roses as well. The more insulation the better.
Don’t remove the tarp and mulch until night temperatures are consistently hovering about zero to +3 with no threat of deep freeze, as we sometimes see in April.
We hope you enjoy growing your David Austin Rose.

Supertunia Mini Vista petunias are mounded, but will also spill over the edges of containers. They are great container plants and will function as both spillers and fillers in combination planters. They are incredibly good landscape plants, best used at the front of beds. They are very densely branched plants. They have small to very small flowers. They are a great substitute for Calibrachoa in landscapes without excellent drainage – Calibrachoa requires excellent drainage to thrive, while petunias are much more forgiving.

Pinus mugo ‘Mops’ is an excellent dwarf selection that grows into a low, dense dome remaining compact without shearing. The mounding plant has a smooth appearance that comes from many evenly spaced needles growing at a uniform rate on abundant branchlets. During most of the year, ‘Mops’ displays a hint of gray/blue in its green, but during the crisp, cold months of winter, needles take on a warm, golden hue. It’s no wonder this choice is one of our most popular for confined spaces.

Bee balm is a classic American native and cottage garden favorite, it's beloved by gardeners not only for its beautiful whorled blooms in red, pink, purple and white; but for the evocative fragrance given off by foliage warmed by the sun or touched by the gardener.
And it’s just as beloved by wildlife as it is by gardeners. Plant bee balm and you can be sure of the attention of hummingbirds and bees in the summer and by seed-loving finches in the winter. It’s an all-around garden winner that provides so much for so little effort.
