A large evergreen tree with dense, ascending, lateral branches from the ground up that form a broad pyramidal to conical crown. It varies from the typical white spruce in its denser, more compact habit and slower growth rate. It has a shallow, fiberous, wide spreading root system. The thin bark is ashy gray / brown.

Brown cylindrical cones appear in late July and may persist on the tree into January. It is better adapted than the white spruce. 

Grows best in acidic, moist loams with full sun, but adapts to a variety of conditions including shade, drought, hot and cold. It is flood intolerant and sensitive to soil compaction.

This tree has a slow growth rate at less than 12" per year.

Ruby Slippers Amur Maple is primarily grown for its highly ornamental fruit. It features abundant showy scarlet samaras in early summer. It has dark green deciduous foliage. The lobed leaves turn outstanding shades of orange and red in the fall.

Leaves turn shades of orange, scarlet, and burgundy to create captivating autumn hues, and colorful seeds adorn the tree late in the summer.

CERTIFIED ORGANIC. Glacier Organic are among the earliest maturing of early season tomatoes. The productive little plants are compact and well suited to containers and balcony growing. Glacier's 'saladette' fruits are small at just 5cm (2") in diameter, but they are very sweet, with a superior flavour to some other early maturing varieties. The stout plants grow to only 60-75cm (24-30") tall, and bear most of their fruit in a concentrated set. The plants are relatively cold tolerant and perform well in short season northern gardens.

Summer Phlox is very popular for its midsummer display in the sunny border. This selection produces large, fragrant flower clusters. Attractive to butterflies. Excellent cut flower. Flowering is always best in a sunny location. Easy to grow and mildew resistant although Summer Phlox always benefit from a location that provides good air circulation and consistent soil moisture. Chocolate mint plants (Mentha x piperita 'Chocolate') are attractive, fragrant and easy to grow. As with most square-stemmed members of the mint family, growing chocolate mint can take over the area in which it is planted in the ground, readily and quickly making it ideal for ground cover or for containers.

Suggestions: Mint has a tendency to overpower the garden if not kept in check. Cut the bottom from a container, place the container in a hole in the garden, fill with soil and plant the mint inside the container.

Plant your tiger lilies in a spot with good drainage, as a waterlogged area can rot the bulbs. Then, over the first few years, water your lilies regularly until their root system has matured. After that, they can better tolerate some drought and are fairly low-maintenance plants.

Lamium is one of the best choices for a tough and showy perennial ground cover.  This selection forms a spreading patch of small silver leaves with a narrow green edge. Clusters of purple flowers appear in spring, then continue off and on until fall.

Fairly tolerant of dry shade, once established. Trim back in late winter.

Stems will root into the ground where they touch, and any new plants that form can be easily moved in spring or fall.
