Betula papyrifera - Paper Birch
The paper birch is also called white birch, canoe birch, or silver birch. Paper birch is short-lived and rarely lives more than 80 years. The handsome foliage and showy white bark make the trees attractive for landscaping.
The Birch is a broadleaved hardwood with a small, open crown of spreading and ascending branches. Branchlets are slender and a reddy-brown. On young trees, trunk bark is reddish-brown but turns to its characteristic white colour as the tree matures. The trunk generally divides low into several arching branches.
